Glazed fruit cake


For the cake

  1. Sugar- 1 cup
  2. Yogurt – 1 ¼ cup
  3. Milk- 2 tbsp
  4. Baking powder – 1 TSP
  5. Baking soda – 1/2 TSP
  6. All purpose flour – 1 ¾ cup
  7. Vanilla essence – 1 TSP
  8. Vegetable oil- 1/2 cup

For the sugar syrup

  1. Sugar – 3 TBSP
  2. Water – ¼ cup

For the Icing

  1. Heavy whipping cream-2 cups
  2. Vanilla essence-1/2 TSP
  3. Icing sugar- 2-3 tbsp (or adjust accordingly)

For the Decoration

  1. Almond flakes
  2. Kiwi
  3. apricot
  4. Strawberry
  5. Grapes or Fruits of your option.
  6. Orange juice -1/2 cup
  7. Corn flour – 1 tbsp
  8. Sugar – ¼ cup


  1. Grease a cake tin and place a parchment paper in it. Preheat the oven to 190°C
  2. Blend together yogurt and sifted sugar, to this add the baking powder and baking soda and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Next, add the flour and vegetable oil simultaneously. Finally add the vanilla essence and mix well
  4. Pour the batter into the cake tray and bake it for 35-40 minutes (or until a toothpick pierced, comes out clean).
  5. After taking the cake out, brush the milk evenly using a baking brush. Cool the cake for 10-15 minutes, then carefully remove it from the cake tin.

Making the Sugar syrup

  1. Bring the sugar and water to boil, then remove it from.the flame and let it cool.
  2. Cut the cake in half and pour the sugar syrup into both slices using a squeeze bottle or simply using a spoon.
  3. Keep this aside to soak.

Making the icing

  1. Make sure to place the mixing blade and bowl at least 15 minutes in the freezer before whipping.
  2. Take another bowl and fill it with ice cubes. Now put the bowl from the freezer on top of this and pour 2 cups of heavy whipping cream and beat from slow to high speed until soft peaks.
  3. To this add the sifted icing sugar and vanilla essence and mix well.
  4. Keep it covered in the fridge.

Making the decoration

  1. Roast some almond flakes in 1 tbsp butter and let it cool.
  2. Cut the fruits into thin slices and dry it completely, keep few fruits cut into small pieces for the inside part.

Putting it all together

  1. Now take out the whipped cream and put some in the middle of the cake and spread evenly. Sprinkle some fruits on top and place the other half of the cake
  2. Now cover the cake with the icing and keep it in the fridge to cool for some time.
  3. Meanwhile prepare the glaze for the fruits.
  4. Boil the orange juice, corn flour and sugar and reduce it until it becomes a thick consistency.
  5. Switch off the flame and let it cool down.
  6. Now take the cake and cover the side with the roasted almonds.
  7. Decorate the top with the sliced fruits. Finally brush the fruits with the prepared glaze and let it



Hanging hearts

Things you’ll need

1. 8 sheets of Cartridge paper of different colors.
2. Scissors
3. Glue gun
4. Desired shape template, I used heart shape
5. 8 pieces of jute rope (1 meter each)


1. Cut out 8 pieces of heart from each color using the heart template.

2. Now you’ll have 64 hearts of different colors. Assemble them according to desired color pattern.

3. Using a glue gun stick the hearts to the jute rope leaving 5cm gap between each heart.

4. Now carefully stick each jute rope to a wooden plank or you can simply tape it on wall.


Hide and seek toffee pudding


  1. Condense milk-1 tin
  2. Fresh cream -2 tin
  3. Whipped powder- 3 sachet
  4. Milk- 1/2 cup
  5. Bread-3 slices (cut into cubes)
  6. Hide and seek biscuit- 1 packet
  7. Nuts-1/2 cup
  8. Butter- 2 tablespoons


1) Preparing the condensed-milk toffee

Place the condense milk can (without opening it) in a pressure cooker and fill the cooker with water until the tin is completely submerged in the water.

Cook the toffee on a medium flame till you hear one whistle. Then cook the toffee on a low flame for 40 minutes. Switch off the flame and wait till the pressure cooker is completely cool. Take the tin out and keep it aside to make sure its has completely cooled down. Once the tin has cooled, open it and the condensed milk should be brown in color as toffee.

2) The Biscuit layer

Break the biscuits into small pieces. Roast the nuts, biscuit and bread in the butter for 3-4 minutes and keep it aside to cool.

3) The Cream layer

In a bowl beat the milk and whipping powder till soft peaks form. In another bowl, beat the fresh cream, 1/2 tin toffee and the whipped cream and mix well until all the ingredients are properly combined

4) Putting it all together

Sprinkle 1/2 of the biscuit layer in a pudding tray. Next, put half of the cream mixture then the biscuit layer again. For the last layer, pour the remaining cream and keep it in the refrigerator for2-3 hours.
Once it’s set decorate according to your wish.


Handful of chips

Things you’ll needed

1. Chart paper of your choice
2. Self adhesive glitter paper which contrasts the color of the chart paper
3. Double sided tape
4. Ziplock bag (preferably around 3 x 4.75 inches)
5. Sketch pens
6. Xacto knife
7. Goldfish cheddar crackers OR make your own


1. Cut the chart paper in the size of an a4 size paper.
2. Cut the self adhesive glitter paper 2 inch more than the chart paper to look like a frame
3. Trace out the hand on the chart paper and make 2 cuts as indicated below with an xacto knife
4. Fill the ziplock bag half way with the goldfish chips.
5. Carefully slide in the ziplock through the cuts made
6. Stick the chart to the adhesive glitter paper using a double side tape
7. Personalise your card with a message on the top and bottom with sketch pens.





Home made cheddar crackers


1. 1/2 cup sharp cheddar shredded cheese
2. 1/2 cup flour
3. 2 tbspn butter(cut into cubes)
4. 1/2tspn salt
5. 2 tbspn cold water


Cut out strips from a soft drink can as in the picture and stick it with a glue gun


Mix everything in the food processor, except for the water.

Add the water in, a little at a time

Remove the dough from the processor, wrap it in plastic, and chill for 20-30 minutes

Roll out the dough and cut into small pieces using the fish-shaped frame. Add eyes and a smile if needed

Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350F for about 15-20 minutes or until crispy
